On July 26, 2007, the Commission on the Status of Women held an Informational Briefing at the State Capitol on two topics of importance to California's women and girls.

  • Youth Initiative: Creating Change Through Media, Culture and Dialogue

The presentation included research findings on ways in which media, society and strict gender roles inform personal development, stereotypes, sexism, homophobia and violence in the lives of young people - plus strategies to challenge the messages and images in media and popular culture.
